Ah yes, it’s that time again. The weekend is here! Whether you’re going to Parked!, eating some Oysters, eating BBQ by Pier54 or simply chillaxin’, hopefully the weather won’t put a damper on your plans. As for us, we’re going over to a friend’s place for a home-cooked meal, doing some volunteering then heading on over to the Hamptons to hang. The i8 Test kitchen will also be in full force this wknd in preparation for next week’s i8 Supper Club (Family Style). Over and out!

Could there be any better way to celebrate the launch of a denim collection than with tacos? Uh, yeah. Clearly not, which must be why Gap is the latest corporation with a food truck, the groan-worthily named “Pico de Gap,” which just rolled into town (see Twitter for locations). The Katie Lee–designed tacos go for just $1.69 for two, with a drink, (they’re free for anyone with a same-day Gap receipt), and also come with a $20 off coupon for the 1969 denim collection. At those prices, there’s definitely time to gain a few pounds before the coach departs NYC September 30, necessitating new jeans. Gap, we’re on to your insidious plan. The truck will also rove San Francisco, Chicago and L.A.; see Facebook for locations.

As for the venue, we think it should be the place that we enjoyed most….the good old streets of NYC!!!!
More particularly, the places we served everyone…Midtown, FiDi, SoHo, TriBeCa (exact locations to be tweeted).
We did not forget about uptown, we will get you guys when school is in session :)
Although the forecast says 30% chance of rain on Monday, there will be a 100% chance of Free Frites…this is the least we can do for you guys.
Our Monday Mission is to reach the above destinations (find parking) and give 100+ Free Frites at every location.
BTW….some of you might see us this weekend in the city (can’t tell you where ;)…but the Free Frites will be for Monday.

RECAP: Lines up the wazoo, as expected. We were at 312/500 free burgers in the queue at 12:20pm. Roughly a 20min wait amounted to…? We’re going to tell it like it is: the burger was straight up bland. I tasted no cumin or oregano in the burger AT ALL. The potato bun, while soft and chewy, was way bigger than the patty and totally overshadowed the star of the show, the turkey. We enjoyed the cool wraparound wrapper though. Free tees (all sz L) were handed out to those who posed with a turkey burger, with a release form signature so they could post pics up on their site. RECAP: DishcrawlNY presented their first TruckCrawl, starting off at USQ West & 17st. Green Dishcrawl pins (below) were handed out to identify those with the group. Regularly $26, a special free code was given to Elite Yelpers in hopes of gaining exposure on this new venture. There were roughly 20 with the group, but none looked like the paying kind. Th
The first pit stop was the Wall Street Burgers Truck (above). The owner told us he quit his Wall Street job to start this truck with his wife, thus the name. Slider portions were handed out to us with curly fries. They claim to use grass fed angus, but we felt the burger was overdone. We like the concept of empowering ‘foodies’ with what’s considered good vs paid critics doing so. However, we disliked the constant filming of ‘DishCrawl TV’ without prior notice/waivers given.

RECAP: No, even the rain couldn’t stop the Foodgasm. On hand were many, but our favorites included the Ma Peche Pork Belly & Beef Banh Mi and the Lobster Hot Dog from CerTe. Let’s not forget washing it all down with some Kelvin Slush then heading over to Miss Softee for some soft serve. We were indifferent about Eddie’s Pizza Truck (cardboard crust) as well as Wafels & Dinges (undercooked). Honorable mention was the amazing roti that Biryani Cart used in their Kati Rolls, as well as the amazing 3 Chili Sauce from El Rey Del Sabor. PICS HERE | MORE COVERAGE HERE
