Event – Heart of Brooklyn Free Summer Sunday AUG7
Come on out to the Heart of Brooklyn for a special day of FREE admission, contests and prizes in celebration of Heart of Brooklyn’s 10th anniversary. For the very first time, all six HOB attractions (Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Public Library, Prospect Park and Prospect Park Zoo) will be open to the public free of charge on Sunday, August 7! Event – Summer Streets 2011 AUG6,13,20
NYC DOT and its partners are proud to present Summer Streets. This summer, for the fourth year in a row, Summer Streets will temporarily close Park Avenue and connecting streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park to motor vehicles and open it up to people on three consecutive Saturdays in August (August 6, 13, & 20).
DOT also partners with groups citywide to bring some summer streets fun to neighborhoods in all five boroughs. Find a Weekend Walk near you

CYI has been granted the “Pay It Forward Grant” by Weil, Gotshal, & Manges, LLP and through this grant, they will be hosting a Summer Ice Cream Social on Monday, July 25th, 2011from 5PM to 8PM at the Museum of Chinese in America. See y’all there!
Event – FREE Summergarden Concerts @ MoMA JUL10-31
The Museum of Modern Art established Summergarden in 1971 to enhance the artistic life of New York City during the summer. In keeping with MoMA’s history of presenting jazz and classical music in The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden, this year’s Summergarden series once again welcomes the participation of two constituents from Lincoln Center: The Juilliard School and Jazz at Lincoln Center, with concerts on alternating Sundays. RECAP: The event space is roomy and spans across multiple floors. Great Performances catering the food didn’t hurt either. Worthy of mention were the delicious peach and strawberry jerk sodas, as well as the Chorizo skewers! Thanks to the Skylight Group for hosting this wonderful event! Veria™ TV and Whole Foods Market® are teaming up for an ambitious “Unlock The Taste of Summer” promotion that features a six-city tour by chef Andrea Beaman, “Top Chef” contestant and star of Veria TV’s “Fed Up!” cooking series, who will be making in-store cooking appearances in Rhode Island, New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut beginning June 20. Beaman will demonstrate the use of fresh summer ingredients in simple, nutritious presentations. Attendees will be able to taste-test new recipes, receive cooking tips and advice from Beaman, as well as enjoy a complimentary drink from Honest Tea.

Guess who’s back in town for the summer: chef Ryan Skeen, who has thrilled people like me at—before walking away from—such NYC restaurants as Resto, Irving Mill, General Greene and Allen & Delancey, all in the span of 36 months.
Skeen’s new project, with The Restaurant Group, will be a pop-up restaurant at 10 Waverly Place. Starting July 13, Skeen will serve a $50 three-course prix fixe menu four nights a week (Wednesdays through Saturdays). There’s also the option of a chef’s tasting menu for $85 with as many courses as Skeen wants to serve—currently, he’s thinking about Jonah Crab and White Asparagus Soup, Quail with Figs and Smoked Potatoes, and Beignets with Foie Cardamom Custard.
