Blogger’s Pizza Making Class at 180 w/ @GoVimbly

Chef Chris Nirschel aka @CulinaryBadBoy & Nicole

We were invited to take part in a GoVimbly Blogger Pizza Making Class at 180 on Little Italy. We literally wined and dined our way through an authentic experience. We had taken a pizza class at Pizza A Casa prior so we knew what to expect. This was less formalized in the sense that portions were given and recipes were not handed out. This was more of a tactile class, one which you go by feel instead of measurements. Also, at 180, everyone made 1 thing and 1 thing only: True Neapolitan Pizza. No fancy stuff! Continue reading

L: Torrisi Bakery, R: Grilled Pork Belly from ‘wichCraft

RECAP: Ever eat on a frisbee before? Governor’s Island was full of tents chock full o’ food on Saturday. Our favorites? Definitely the Chocolate Bouchons from Bouchon Bakery, The Blackberry Rose Pops from People’s Pops, and the Ham and Cheese sammich from Gramercy Tavern. We loved how Eco-Friendly the waste was. Enough of what we think, onto the mouth-watering pictures… PICS HERE

Casa Nonna Friends & Family – The Early Word

Adjacent left of The Emerald Green, a Glenwood Residence, lies this New York outpost of the OG Restaurant in Washington, D.C. Similar menus offered antipasti as well as ‘affordable’ Italian food in a bustling Fashion District. An added bonus to this E Squared Restaurant is the integration of a GO2 Burger inside the restaurant. After Laurent Tourondel parted ways and won a recent lawsuit, it looks like the ‘BLT’ name is now being shared. We still saw omnipresent sign boards of their sister BLT restaurants. The genius of this event is that they reached out to their potential customer base, the neighborhood. With literally 20 or so residential buildings within an 8 block radius, it was the right thing to do. When we pinged people that lived inside Emerald Green, they mentioned that this was the first Social Event the building has ever thrown. Continue reading

Time Out New York: 2011 Food & Drink Awards

Thx to SociallySuperlative for this…

Time Out New York announced their 2011 Food & Drink Awards winners last week with an initimate tasting event held at Le Poisson Rouge.

We heard a few welcoming words by Food & Drink editor Jordana Rothman, who explained that the awards ceremony was switched up from years past: instead of a traditional awards presentation, this year tables of some of the winners and nominees set up shop with samplings of their signature dishes for guests to try.  After all, what’s a foodie event without actual food?
