UPDATE: What we did know: To come hungry. What we didn’t know: There would be 7 dishes, all of which were full portions besides the sushi rolls (menu above, right). Chef Honrado (above, left) was so gracious and humble with his Kool-Aid smile that we knew we would taste love in his food. The plating was on par with the best. We were especially happy with the salmon and the scallop dishes. Some constructive feedback/tweaks to the menu was given and we are positive that everything will be taken into consideration going forward, if not already. If you are in the area, shoutout @RestauranThalia and GO!
It’s not often that you encounter someone so passionate about what they do to the point of perfection. Sharing the same values and also being a self taught chef, Yuji instantly made a connection with us. We mentioned how no food should be wasted, you should taste every ingredient that is mentioned on a menu, and how we hated that tasting menus got progressively heavier as the meal progressed. We also stated that we hate when we go to popups or supper clubs and you either: leave hungry, feel ripped off, or the food is cold with a makeshift kitchen. He happily obliged on all points. It was such a pleasure to cook for a repeat guest and her party of a dozen beautiful women. The menu was left to our capable hands and everyone left happy. This dinner was lighter and safer than our liking, but that was intentional. The ladies needed room in their tummies to go boogie the night away afterwards Check out this food porn of the duck breast from @EatMeaty.
It’s been too long since the last party. Long time no see. Let’s catch up with good beats and great company. Make new friends, reacquaint with old ones, go gangnam style or be a wallflower. It’s up to you, my lovelies. Just know that these parties are infamous for inadvertently hooking singles up. You know who you are.
It’s BYOB. A bottle of liquor gets you in. Into who or what, that’s up to you. Please leave the farm animals at home.
Drink responsibly. Or not, it’s your liver. Who cares, it’s the weekend.
UPDATE: What a blast cooking. 5 courses for $25 was the steal of the century. BYOB too! PICS HERE

Replacing Todd English’s former CrossBar space at the Limelight Marketplace, he is back at it again with Chateau NYC, a French restaurant with dishes that are sure to please. Fortunate enough to get a first taste of the menu, we were excited to see what this was all about. We were especially fond of the dish above, a perfect dish for the Summer season. Check out the album here and see for yourself if the trip is worthwhile.
Chef Danny Bowien is quickly rising amongst the transplant Chef world, making his presence known with tons of media coverage. We picked up an issue of Bon Appetit to check out the latest ongoings in the food world. Low and behold, there’s Danny again headlining the magazine with Andrew Knowlton reflecting on their recent trip to eating up Chengdu. They even have a book out publishing their recipes. With much fanfare surrounding the opening, we wanted to satiate our need to know why the SF mainstay is much heralded…. Continue reading →
Don’t believe the hype. It’s a sequel. -Public Enemy
Hyped by many as the young Rick Bayless of the East Coast, Chef Alex Stupak left as pastry chef of wd-50 to open Empellon Taqueria in the West Village. A few years later, he opened to rave reviews of what many consider to be a Mexican crown jewel in the East Village. We’re talking about none other than Empellon Cocina, taco free edition. After numerous recommendations by friends, we finally caved and paid them a visit… Continue reading →
