Event – The London Candy Company Cake Launch Party JUN21 – we’ll be there

RECAP: The London Candy Company’s Cake launch party was well thought out, with cakes cleverly placed on top of their respective candy bar infusions. The cake we enjoyed the most was the rose mini cake, with a decadent high quality chocolate coating. There were also many Euro candies and chocolate bars such as WHAM Popping Candy (aka wannabe Pop Rocks), Snickers Duo, and a fridge fully stocked with foreign sodas and the like. In terms of drinks, we were mostly impressed  by the Lilt Pineapple Grapefruit soda, as well as the Fentiman’s Curiosity Cola. A first for us was Ribena, in Sparkling form (Ribena & Cola pictured). The delectable savory bites were just the proverbial ‘icing on the cake’ to an awesome night! They are now open to the public, so be sure to mosey on over and order some cake!

–The London Candy Company Launches “Original” Cakes, Asks Customers to Pick Their Favorites–

–Party Celebrates Wimbledon the English Way–

New York, NY (June 7, 2011)—Just two months after its grand opening, The London Candy Company is launching a line of original cakes with a Wimbledon-themed party on June 21.  Invited guests, who are asked to wear white, can expect Pimm’s and Lemonade, wine and champagne, candy-inspired drinks, hors d’oeuvres and the company’s new Knock-Offs cakes.  Customers will be treated to cake samples in the days leading up to and after the launch party and will be asked to vote for their favorites.

The Knock-Offs, created exclusively for the store by pastry chef Khahlidra Levister, play on the classic English sweets that have become London Candy Company customer favorites.  Terry’s Chocolate Orange inspired a chocolate cake layered with dark chocolate orange ganache and covered in dark chocolate; Coconut Bounty is the muse for a coconut cake layered with coconut cream and covered in milk chocolate; and After Eight spurred the creation of a delightful chocolate cake layered with peppermint fondant and covered in dark chocolate.  Other Knock-Offs include takes on the Double Decker, Cadbury’s Turkish Delight, Topic, Milky Bar, Smarties, Mars Duo and Blackcurrant and Strawberry Fruit Pastilles. The cakes will officially go on sale on June 22, the day after the launch party.

“We want to offer sweets and treats that customers can’t find anywhere else in the States,” said owner Jigs Patel.  “The English chocolate in its original form has been thrilling customers since we opened, so we decided to take things a step further.”

Customers will be asked to cast their vote for their favorite Knock-Off cake via in-store ballots, which will also act as raffle tickets.  The raffle winner will receive a handmade Wimbledon-themed basket full of The London Candy Company’s best-selling sweets.
